Pop Sugar Must Have Box November 2013

Here is my November Pop Sugar Box!  The box this month is pretty darn amazing.

I absolutely love this Michael Stars scarf.  I have worn it almost everyday since I got this.  It had a lot of static when I first took it out of the bag, but I laid it out overnight and the static was gone.  It is so soft and very warm and goes with pretty much anything.  This is probably the best scarf I have gotten out of a subscription box.
These Absolute Nail Polish pads in Peach are acetone free and have a nice scent.  These do not work well though.  They made the polish I was taking off run all over my hands and sometimes it took more than one of these just to get polish off of one nail.  I do like that they did not make my nails feel sensitive, but I don't think they are worth it for the mess they caused.
The box came with Maison de Monaco Strawberry and Blackcurrant Cream Preserves.  These are tasty on toast and english muffins and I really enjoyed this addition to the box.  This also might work well with crackers and cheese spreads.
I love the Naughty Boxed Glass candle by Illume.  It has a nice warm scent and I love the graphic on the candle.  I have this on my desk currently and whenever I sit down I light it.  It is barely half way gone and I have been lighting it for about a week and a half every night.  I am very happy with this candle.
These Barefruit Cruncy Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips are delicious.  They are crunchy and have a nice sweet and salty taste to them.  If I can find them in store I would definitely purchase them.
I love this Soap and Paper Factory soap in Roland Pine.  This is a shea butter soap and it makes my skin soft.  It does not leave that tight feeling some soap can give.  It makes my whole bathroom smell like Christmas trees too which I absolutely love.
The Single Canvas Wine Tote by Lands End is great for bringing a glass of wine to a party or to Holiday dinner.  I plan to use mine to bring a bottle of wine to Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.  I am so clumsy it is nice to have it in a secure bag instead of just a paper bag that the liquor store will give you.
The box came with a $30 off coupon to Canvas Pop.  They take any photo you want and put it on canvas.  I love this idea and think it would be a great gift for anyone.  I am probably going to use my coupon to get picture printed on canvas as a gift.

Thanksgiving 2013

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I woke up at 4AM to start cooking and here are some of the pictures throughout the day.

Cranberries always look so beautiful.

Here is the nearly finished cranberry sauce (yum yum!).

We made a spicy cornbread stuffing that was SO spicy, but good! (recipe)

I drank so many cups of coffee to keep me awake.

I may have eaten one of these turkey sugar cookies for breakfast.

We made brussel sprouts with bacon that are my absolute favorite. (recipe)

I had a mug of the brussel sprouts for breakfast too.  Had to make sure they were good enough to serve!

Made delicious cinnamon carrots.

Steamy carrot goodness.

Basting the turkey!

26 pounds of delicious turkey!

Watched the parade as it came on.  This is one of my favorite things to do every year.

Worked on peeling to potatoes for mashed potatoes while I watched the parade.

Hello Kitty!

Finn and Jake!
Turkey is done and looking good!

Yummy gravy.

I didn't take a picture of my plate as I was far too hungry to think about cameras when it came time to eat, but I assure you it was so good.

For Black Friday I started out with some online shopping at H&M, ASOS, and Sephora (haul post to come on that).  Then we headed over to my Dad's house.
We helped him get Christmas trees and start decorating the house (forgot to take pictures of the trees, but they are huge and beautiful!).

I also got to meet their new Golden Retriever puppy, Beck!
He was so sleepy and I held him for a good while when we got there and snuggled with him.

Oh I just love puppies!

I also hung out with the King of the Muppets aka Captain who is a Coton de Tulear and so snuggly and cute.

My Dad is getting surgery to move a pinched nerve in his arm and someone sent him this gift basket which he then gave to us.  So many yummy treats!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a non-hectic Black Friday!

Gift Guide 2013: Tweens

1) A craft is always a good gift to give and this one allows her to make two little penguins.  These could even be turned into ornaments.
2) These bracelets are very pretty and each have a motivational saying.
3) Another craft and this one is to make a cute owl holder for her phone, iPod, etc.
4) Lancome's Juicy Tubes were always the hot thing when I was younger and they provide that gloss that all girls want without too much color.

1) A great craft to make what might even be his first wallet.
2) A gaming chair is a must for boys into console video games.
3) These puzzles are challenging, but fun to make and are a great room decoration when finished.
4) Zombies and boys go together like peanut butter and fluff.  This is a great board game he can get his friends to play with him that doesn't involve a screen.

October 2013 Beauty Bar Sample Society

This is my October Beauty Bar Sample Society box.

This is the card listing all the products this month.  It came with five products and one was a full size nail polish!
This is the magazine they include every month.  I really like this addition, but I wish they would switch back to the glossy magazine paper instead of the flimsy low-quality paper they use now.
I love butter LONDON polishes so I was very excited when I saw this in the box.  This looked stunning on, but was miserable to get off.  It took me so long to get it off that it made me wonder whether the beauty of it on was worth it.
The color is a bright blue fine particle glitter that is called Scallywag.
The Minus 417 Hand Moisturizer is fantastic.  It is not greasy at all and smells lovely.  It completely soaks into my dry hands and makes them soft.  I would purchase the full size of this when I run out of the sample (and finish off a few other lotions first!).
Ouidad products work very well on my hair and this one is no exception to that.  The Botanical Boost Moisture Infusing and Refreshing Spray makes my locks shiny and soft.  I spray this on and then brush it through wet hair after I get out of the shower .  It works great if I let it air dry naturally or blow dry it.
I have tried the IPKN Moist and Firm BB with SPF 45 a few times.  The shade I got is 02 Light and works well with my skin tone.  I don't know that it really firms my skin, but it does seem to hydrate it.  It did not bother my skin either or break me out which is nice.  This is a good product, but it did not make me feel like I had to have it.
I typically love all Diptyque fragrances, but this one just did not mesh well with me.  This is the 34 Eau de Toilette and it was just way too strong no matter how little I put on.  I did not care for the fragrance either.  It is probably because this is a woody fragrance and I tend to prefer floral or spicy scents.

Birchbox November 2013

This is my Birchbox for November.
This is the Birchbox Holiday gift guide for 2013.  I love getting these every year as they give great tips and guides from the shop.

I got the Aloxxi ColourCare Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner.  I absolutely love that these are real travel sized bottles and not foil packets.  These actually work nicely as well to give my hair volume and make it feel nice.  It lathers well as well.  I don't have color treated hair so I don't know how well it works or doesn't for that, but for my non colored hair it worked well.
I absolutely love this Chella Highlighter Pencil in Ivory Lace.  This is a creamy pencil and blends into my skin very well.
It works as an under eye brightener as well as a general highlighter.  I would definitely purchase this once this one runs out.
The Fatty Sundays Chocolate Covered Pretzels in Toffee Crunch.  It was good, but not anything fantastic.  I could probably make this at home myself for cheaper.
I love Color Club nail polishes.  The formulas on their polishes are great and the pigmentation is good.

This one is a dusky navy color called Baldwin Blues and is part of the Harlem Lights Collection.  I love getting polish samples because it is a great way to try a new color or brand without having to shell out for a full bottle.
