Minnie Mouse Halloween Costume (My Way)

We were allowed to wear costumes this year to work so this is what I chose.  I did not want to go out and buy a costume and rather used things I had gotten at Disney.
The sweater I am wearing, as far as I know, is something you can only get at the Disney parks.  It is extremely comfortable and I especially love the dolman style sleeves (even if it made my arm look huge).
The sparkly Minnie ears you can get both at Disney parks and online or you can make your own!
I wore it with black jeans and the mouse shoes below.
I got these mouse flats at Kohl's (they are by Mudd) last year and realized they worked perfect with Minnie Mouse costume.

I did my nails up for my costume as well and attempted to make mickey heads/ears on my thumb nails.  This is the only one that was passable for a mickey head.
To get the nail look I started with the Formula X for Sephora in Pyrotechnic all over the nail.  To get the color I used two coats.  I waited for it to dry then poured out some of the Pandora's white polish and dipped a pencil end into it and just dabbed it all over my nail until I had the desired amount of dots.  Then on my thumbnail I took Essie's Power Clutch  (if you have black polish use that) and poured some out and then dipped the eraser side of the pencil into it and pressed in the head first then two ears.  I finished it off with a coat of Julep's Freedom Polymer top coat.
It is really that simple to get this look.

This is unfortunately a rather blurry picture of my makeup.  This was surprisingly easy to do and came out super cute.
On my face I put on Benefit's Hello Oxygen Wow! Foundation in "Cheers to Me" Champagne with my beauty blender.
I swept The Balm's Frat Boy on the apples and blended it towards my temples then put Benefit's High Beam on top of my cheekbones, down my nose, and on my cupid's bow.

On my eyes I primed my lids with Urban Decay's Primer Potion in Eden then patted Stila's Kitten on top.
I lined my top lash line with Tarte's Clay Liner in Black and lined my lower lash line only on the outer half.
I then curled my lashes and did a coat of Lancome's Hypnose Star Mascara.

For my whiskers I used the Tarte liner and drew four whiskers on each side of my nose.

For my nose I used the Tarte liner to draw a circle.  I waited for it to dry then drew on the shine mark.
For the white shine mark I dipped the brush in water and then used the color Matt Malloy from my Meet Matt(e) Nude palette from The Balm to draw a line for the shine mark.

For my lips I swiped on MAC's Matte Riri Woo then after it dried I did the same process as I used on my nose to draw on shine marks on the top left and bottom left side of my lips.

I also made sure to have my Minnie Alex and Ani bracelet on!

Being Minnie for the day was a very cute, comfortable, and easy costume.  You can use any makeup you already have to get the look I created and wear anything either Mickey and Minnie related or get into it and recreate her signature polka dot red dress.

I wish you a very happy and safe Halloween!

Halloween/Fall Inspiration - Treats

Hello Lovely Ghouls!
Fall is the perfect time of year for all sorts of delicious recipes including pumpkins and apples as well as heartier savory items.

I am a big bagel fan and these pumpkin pie bagels look delicious.
Pancakes are one of my favorite foods.  I actually love pumpkin pancakes with butter and a bit of cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top instead of syrup.
Scones are delicious with a cup of something hot and these scones look delicious (they look similar to Starbucks pumpkin scone).
One of my favorite parts of fall and Halloween time are hearty meals.  Chicken pot pie and chicken with biscuits are two of my favorites.

I love winter vegetables like squash and this dish looks amazing with some creamy polenta.
This time of year I scour out apple anything and these fritters look divine.
I am one of those people who try everything pumpkin spice flavored this time of year.  This cake looks pretty and I bet it tastes just as good.
This adorable pumpkin cake would be great for a party and it is so simple to make.
You really cannot have Halloween time without caramel apples!  I love that you can make it simple or dress them up.
I also cannot get through the Fall without some pumpkin bread, this is a jazzed up version.
This time of year all I am drinking are hot drinks.  I love apple cider heated up and especially love Starbucks caramel apple cider.
I also cannot get enough hot cocoa this time of year.  I use my Cocomotion a ton!  This Nutella hot cocoa sounds so delicious.

Can you tell I have a wee bit of a pumpkin obsession?

In Memoriam

(Me, Gram, Mom)
I cannot believe it has been a whole year since my Grandma passed away.
I still cannot believe how much it still hurts that she is gone.
This picture was taken about two weeks before she passed away so I am glad I got to spend time with her before she left.
I remember getting the call at work in the morning.  My Mom was trying so hard not to cry because she did not want me to get upset, but I could hear her saying "You need to say your goodbye, Cass".
The tears started streaming down my face and when my Mom put the phone to her ear I told her that I love her and that I will miss her, but it is okay if it is her time.  I also told her that I was so happy she was able to meet the man I will marry because even if she can't be there I wanted her to know I would be taken care of.
My boyfriend then rushed me to the hospital so I could try to make it there.
I called my Mom when I was about five minutes away to tell her I was almost there.
My Mom told my Grandma that I was coming and almost there and then she finally let go.
I did not get to say goodbye in person, but I did get to tell her goodbye before she left.
Even writing this now my throat is tightening and I'm fighting back tears.
I was her only Granddaughter so we had a special bond that has not broken even with her passing.
I will always miss her, but the pain of her being gone is eased by knowing she is no longer in pain.

I loved when I was younger and you taught me to sew, a skill I use at least once a week to darn a sock or sew up a hole in a shirt.
I would grumble about taking you to church on Christmas morning, but in reality I didn't mind because I was spending time with you (and we made fun of the terrible singers together).
I also cherish the time I got to spend with you when I went down to pick you up in Florida and bring you up to Mass.

I hold these memories near and dear to my heart.

I will always miss you and always love you.

Halloween Inspiration - Pumpkins

Hello Lovely Ghouls!
I love decorating pumpkins for Halloween.  Anything other than carving it is best to use crafting pumpkins (fake pumpkins) so that way you can use it again year after year.

I love a little glitz and glam.
This is a the darker side of glitz and glam.
I like these pushpins as another way to add design and "bling" to a pumpkin.
Another way to get a great look is to pierce the skin with marbles so the light glows through them.
If you want to add a little color to your pumpkin you can melt crayons on them for a rainbow effect.
These gilded pumpkins look great stacked on the shelves and would also look just as good separated and spread around outside or inside.
If you really want your pumpkins to sparkle you can douse them in a healthy coating of glitter.  This is using large chunky glitter pieces.
To tone it done a bit you can go with a finer glitter.
This is a great way to add a little character to your pumpkins.
I also LOVE this cat design.
I am absolutely obsessed with this fireplace decoration.  If I had a fireplace and was not using it I would definitely do this in it.
These lantern pumpkins are great for a stoop to light the way.
These pumpkins lined up in the bookcase to look like a tree are very whimsical.
If you plan to carve pumpkins I would use this tip to help the pumpkins last longer.
"After you scoop out and carve your pumpkin, dip it in a large container of bleach and water (use a 1 tsp:1 gal mix). The bleach will kill bacteria and help your pumpkin stay fresh longer. Once completely dry, (drain upside down), add 2 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to a quart of water. Brush this solution onto your pumpkin to keep it looking fresh for weeks."

Halloween Inspiration - Home Decor

Hello Lovely Ghouls!
I have found some of the most beautiful Halloween decorations this year and wanted to share them with you all.  When I get a bigger place I would love to do some of these gorgeous decorations.
As you may have noticed I do not like too much gore or scary things in my Halloween (I'm a weirdo I know).  I tend to go for more cutesy, girly, and classic Halloween decorations.

I absolutely love the look of these bats over the year.  Cute creepy effect.
This spooky with scene complete with fog is a great way to drum up a bit of theatricality.
I love the decorations on this mailbox.  The mailbox can be a forgotten opportunity for decorations.

I love the illusion these floating hats give, it's as if they're  waiting for the witches to come along and grab them before they head out.
This entry way table is decorated minimally, but still looks festive.
I love the rustic look of this fireplace mantle.
I love that this mantle is decked out with little creatures and the black and white color scheme looks great against that fireplace.
The garlands on this mantle are fun and festive and the colors and town scene look great.
This centerpiece is edible and pretty.
This is another great centerpiece.  You could also remove the bats and redecorate the tree for other holidays.

I love the decorations across the streets.
