Oh-So-Chic (Glamour, Revlon, Cambridge Satchel)

So I entered a giveaway Glamour was hosting on Pinterest with Revlon called the Revlon Year In Color Pin-to-Win giveaway where you could win an emerald Cambridge Satchel Company bag and Revlon beauty products.  Everything is emerald inspired in honor of Pantone's color of the year being emerald.  I have been eyeing the Cambridge Satchel Company bags for a long time and I can never get enough Revlon products so I figured, what the heck, it never hurts to try.  If you have not guessed already...I won!  They informed me about a week ago so I have been fervently anticipating the arrival of my package.  It comes just in time as my birthday is a week from today!
Here is what I received.  A gorgeous eye shadow palette and nail polish from Revlon and The Cambridge Satchel Company bag in Emerald.  I am over the moon happy with everything I received.

The Revlon shadow I received is called Pop Art.  I  have a few other of these palettes and I love them.  They create the perfect eye look using all the shadows in there, but they're also great shadows to use alone or with other shadows as well.

The swatch colors go from top to bottom.  Then after the middle shade I went from right to left on the bottom two shadows.  The shadow on the top is a nice glittery champagne color for highlight.  The dark brown is a lovely crease color.  The dark emerald green is so pretty, it has a light shimmer to it.  The one on the bottom right is a pretty silver shade.  The bottom left is a gorgeous opalescent white, this one surprised me the most as it looks so tame in the package but comes to life on your lid.  All of these colors are glittery which is great for a night out.

The polish color is Revlon's #220 Rain Forest.

This is a stunning dark green with small glitter.  I really love this color as it is not like any other polish color I own.  The Revlon Colorstay polishes are also fantastic long wearing polishes that do not chip easily.

Here it is on my toe!  Sorry for the super messy paint job, I was just so excited to try out the polish!  The other toes have Essie's Mint Candy Apple in case you were wondering.

I seriously cannot say enough how much I love this bag.  It's perfect for me.  I was born in May so I always love emerald colored things and this is such a beautiful shade of green.  These bags have been EVERYWHERE recently and I am so excited to have one for my very own.  You can see the cat creeping in from the top right on this picture she had to run over to sniff it.

And here she is claiming the bag for herself.  It clearly has the cat's stamp of approval and mine too!

HauteLook & Nordstrom Fragrance Beauty Bag

I always love fragrance samples and when I saw this beauty bag on Hautelook for 9 deluxe fragrance samples I immediately jumped on and bought it.  The makeup bag it came with is navy and white striped and is a decent size.  It will be good for throwing essentials in to put in my beach bag this summer.  For the fragrances, I already know I love some of these and others I was very excited to try out.

The bottle on the Jimmy Choo Flash is so pretty.  It's a lovely light fragrance.  I love the glittery box too.  I really enjoy the jasmine and pink pepper notes in this one.  It's more of a night out fragrance in my opinion.

There has not been a Juicy fragrance that I don't love.  The Viva La Juicy is a pretty girly scent.  The gardenia and orchid are nice floral notes.  I love the jewel shaped bottle topper too.  This is an every day fragrance.
I have heard so much about the Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume from various places on the internet so I was very excited that this was included.  I love that the bottle looks like a pretty little grenade (it is flowerbomb afterall).  The freesia, orange blossom, and rose in this are alluring.  I like this for an everyday perfume, but for all the hype it got it's not one a super favorite of mine.

Let me start by saying this Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline perfume was quite difficult to get open.  The creators apparently anticipated issues as the lid of the box has a diagram of how to remove the top of the bottle.  That all being said I do love the unique design of this one.  The neroli, peony, and lily of the valley notes in this one make it actually one of my favorites out of all the perfumes.  The challenges one might have with the bottle are well worth it.  This is an everyday perfume.

The Jimmy Choo Eau De Toilette is a very clean and lightly floral fragrance.  This is also one of my very favorites in the collection.  The bottle has a slight pink tinge which is very pretty too.  I enjoy the pear nectar and tiger orchid notes in this and use it for any everyday perfume.

The bottle on the See By Chloe perfume is one of my favorites; I just love the simple design of it.  I had smelled this in magazines and never like it, but getting it and actually wearing it I love this scent. The ylang ylang and apple blossom are really lovely scents.  This is a great slightly floral girly scent to wear everyday.

Balenciaga's Florabotanica is a captivating mix of carnation, turkish rose essence, and white amber (among a few others).  It's name is very fitting as it is a beautiful floral scent, but with a bit of edge.  I love the black and white lines of the topper and the almost tattoo-esque design of the flowers on the box.
Donna Karan Woman scent is rather strong.  This is my least favorite of all the scents.  I tend to lean towards light floral very girly scents.  This is a very sultry scent.  I'd say maybe for a night out I'd wear this, but maybe not then.  I think it's the sandalwood that I find a bit too overbearing.  I know many people enjoy this fragrance, it's just not for me.  I will say the bottle is very intriguing and looks like a small sculpture which I rather like.

Ever since I tried a small sample vial of Clinique's Happy last year I have been in love with it.  This is the only sample that actually has a spray, the rest you have to drop/dab on.  I love the floral notes and the hint of ruby red grapefruit.  This is a longstanding favorite of mine and is perfect for spring and summer as it's such a bright and cheery fragrance.  I'll say this was the deal breaker that got me to buy the whole set, just for this guy right here.

Bratcher Sundires Samples

I recieved a bunch of really fantastic soap samples from Bratcher Sundries.  I've been using them for a bit so I could give a proper review.
If you want to purchase any of the soaps I am mentioning you can visit her Etsy shop.
I was surprised by the large amount of samples she included, but also very thankful as it gave me to try out a bunch of different scents.
Some of the soaps have glitter in them which is a lovely touch too.
All of the soaps are shaped beautifully too.
I love the soaps all so much I had a very hard time finding just one favorite, but I'd have to say I love the lavender, energy, and honey ale the best. The others are still fantastic too though.

I was so impressed I ordered the rosemary soap from the shop as rosemary is one of my very favorite scents.

The honey ale has blue and green glitter in it and a white soap base. This is a shea butter honey ale scented soap and is very mosturizing.

Vanilla oak has a creamy base and blue glitter in the top.
The energy scented soap is one of my favorites and it's a very wake you up kind of scent, but in a good way.

Celestial waters is a very pretty cerulean with blue and white glitter.

Morning Apple is a lovely refreshing apple scented soap.
I love this lavender soap quite a bit.  I really love the scent of lavender and find it very relaxing.

Birchbox Limited Edition From The Garden Box

I saw that Birchbox was having a new limited edition box and decided to try it out.  I have never purchased one of their limited edition boxes before, but I decided to give the Garden Box a try.

Let me tell you I am so pleasantly surprised with this box and all of its contents.  I couldn't believe that there was not one thing in the box that I didn't love.  The box is already sold out so I am ecstatic I bought it when I did.

This is the usual card that describes everything in the box.

Everything on the previous card is broken up by headings, nurture, slice and dice, provision, and nest.  These headings are also on cards that have a bit more about each of the headings.  The card labeled nurture has gardening tips for "every level of green thumb".  Slice and dice illustrates various basic knife cuts.  Provision has information about the "seasonal stars" which are produce items that are in season and great this time of year.  Nest explains how to "bring the best of the season into every aspect of your life" through candles, hand soap, diffusers, and spring spritzes.
I really like that these additional cards were included to give tips on the season and how to use everything in the box.

The Gift Republic Grow Me: Mini Herb and Vegetable Growing Kit I received was the basil variation.  We go through basil a lot this time of year making pesto and using it in our tomato sauces so I am excited to try this out.  I don't have a very good green thumb, but I am doing my best to try to keep this guy alive.

The first thing I noticed about this hand cream was the beautiful packaging.  TOCCA's Crema da Mano Luxe in Cleopatra is a very moisturizing hand cream.  I love the light scent and how it just completely gets rid of my dry skin.  I love the box so much after I use the hand cream I put  it back in the box to store, it's just so pretty and elegant.

I  used to have a knife similar to this one that I ended up losing in the move from college senior year to home.  I am so glad to have this back.  The Core Bamboo Utility Knife comes in an adorable radish pattern.  The blade cover is perfect as it protects it when I throw it in the utensil drawer.

The Baggu Market Shopping Bag is perfect to keep in my purse for anytime we need an extra shopping bag.  I love the bright orange color of it and that it comes in its own little pouch.  When you unfold it is is actually a rather large bag and can hold quite a lot.

I love this shopping list.  It's so much better than just using regular lined paper as it gives your list a bit of aesthetic.  I had some spare magnets around so I glued a magnet to the back of it and stuck it on the fridge and it works perfect now, though I wish it had come with a magnet already on it.

The box came with two Sarabeth's Legendary Spreadable Fruit.  The flavors are peach apricot and strawberry raspberry.  I love preserves on english muffins and pancakes during the weekend and these are so delicious.  I can't decide which one I like more as they're both so good.

This Lafco Little Luxuries Candle Tin smells amazing.  Since I took it out of the box we've had it lit every night when we get home from work.  It is the cilantro and orange scent and it's just very a very clean, light scent.  I also love that the lid has a small box of matches in it (the black box with the Lafco logo on it) as that is very convenient in case the candle lighter runs out.  The container is very cute too so even when the candle is done I'll have to find some way to repurpose the tin.

This is probably my very favorite item in the box. The L'Occitane fragrance in Jasmin and Bergamote is perfection.  I put this on and instantly turned to my boyfriend and declared that this would be my new signature scent.  It's the perfect floral fragrance and lasts all day.  I am so in love with this perfume.

April 2013 Beauty Box 5

This is Beauty Box Five's April box.  This is my second box from them and I am so-so on the box this month.
Here is a look at the card in the box to give a bit of information on pricing and the like.

These La Fresh Instant Body Smoother wipes have turned out to be one of my favorites in the box.  I will admit I was skeptical about them, but I used it this morning and was very pleasantly surprised at the results.  It made my dry skin disappear as well as the tension in my neck that was causing an early morning headache.  I really love this one and it will be great to use at any time.  I put the other one in my bag for on the go use.

This is my second favorite thing in the box.  The Minxxette Brush Hanger will make it much easier to clean and properly dry my brushes.
It can also be used to hold a washcloth in the shower or anything else really as it has great grip both with the suction cup and with the "grabbing hands" where you could insert something (where the brush end goes).
I love that I can hang my brushes to dry instead of laying them flat, I feel this gets more moisture out of them.  It's also good for storage for particular brushes that get use everyday to have them in hands reach at all times and this way they're not smooshed together in a drawer.

These Jean Pierre Cosmetics Oil-Absorbing Facial Tissues work well.  The case reminds me of a jumbo sized listerine strips case.  The case works well for throwing in my bag because it's not made of cardboard and can hold up to more jostling.

The Model Co Illusion Lip Pencil is something I probably won't ever use.  I don't line my lips and this felt very drying when I tried it out.

The color also didn't look very natural on me and made me look like I put concealer all over my lips, it was a very bizarre effect.  The nice thing about this pencil if you like to use lip pencils is that he cap has a built in sharpener so that's perfect for ladies on the go.

Last month I got a Brazen eye shadow that I was not keen on and this one is not much different.  The color I received is called Birthday Suit and is a nude, but it has glittery shimmer in it.  This isn't a bad color as neutrals and mineral shadows are two of my favorite things, but I don't like the glitter bits I found in it.
I tried to swatch it, but the swatch didn't come out great (you can't really see the glitter bits). The color can be made dark or light depending on how much is on the brush and how much you blend it out.
If you want to visit their website it's very hard to view.  I've tried it in Firefox and Chrome and it just doesn't show the links or the eye shadows (maybe they're renovating with no renovation signs?).  As I do so much of my shopping online if a company's website doesn't work or look professional I will not buy from them.  Now this could just be me, but it doesn't fill me with confidence if a company has a cruddy looking website.  Okay, sorry, rant done.

Check out March's Beauty Box 5!
